By One Man - Romans 5:12-21

By One Man

Romans 5:12-21

  1. 12-14

By the one man Adam, sin entered into the world.

Sin not imputed because there was no law to hold accountable.

Yet the curse of sin still had her sting, which is death to all from Adam to Moses.

But God who is righteous and just provided the Law as to reveal sin and her darkness.

To enlighten the people of this world to what sin is and what sin does.

John 1:17 – “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Isaiah 33:22 – “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.”

James 2:10 – “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

1 Timothy 1:8-10 – “8But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”

Now Eden had been shut up, so the specific sin by which God commanded Adam and Eve not to partake could not be repeated and no other Law had been given since, until Moses, aside from the curse place upon man for the sin of Adam.

This is why a lot of deeper theological teachers and preachers highlight that the flood was more because of the intermingling of fallen angels and daughters of men rather than pertaining to just the sin and corruption of the world.

God does not hold us accountable in our ignorance yet will eventually not allow for excuse.

He is loving, merciful, and longsuffering.

Simplest I can put it, if you don’t know any better how can you be held accountable for your actions, but once you know the truth, you have no excuse.

  1. 15-21

By the one man Jesus, grace abounded and covered the many multitude of sin and transgressors who would believe on HIS name.

Although the corruption of sin spans almost the entirety of human existence and has afflicted many from Adam to today, the gift of God’s grace is more abundant and of greater degree than sin for it cleanses all unrighteousness and reconciles a dead and broken people to God. Granting them life and liberty and hope and peace.

1 Corinthians 15:54-58 – “54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Matthew 26:41 – “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

By one man!

By one rebellious man, God’s will be done!

By one faithful man, God’s will be done!

God is sovereign. We talk about that all the time. God’s sovereignty is absolute. So whether we believe or disbelieve, God’s will be done!

But through conversion and acceptance even the disbeliever can be made the believer, and can work toward, God’s will be done!

Galatians 1:11-24 – “11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. 13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: 14And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. 15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, 16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: 17Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. 18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. 19But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. 20Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. 21Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; 22And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: 23But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. 24And they glorified God in me.”

Through faith and the redeeming of the Holy Ghost, God can even use a murderer.

You’re not too far gone, until God calls us out.

It’s not dependent on your skill nor ability.

All that is required of you is to remain faithful and seek God.

Romans 5:1-2 – “1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Yet even faith is removed from our responsibility, for God grants us our faith.

Romans 12:3 – “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

So what then, if we be corrupted in sin, saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, yet God grants us our measure of faith. What is left for us to do!

Matthew 22:36-39 – “36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

By you, yes you, I’m talking to you, you may think I’m talking to someone else, nope, its you.

Seek God! He has outstretched HIS arms upon the cross to bare the full weight of all sin and corruption in the world, to bridge the gap of separation caused by sin, and to reconcile a lost and destitute creation back to its rightful place. In union, harmony, and matrimony back to himself.
